Inductive Coupling Effect on The Radiation Pattern Of V- Shaped Antenna Array

-For high frequency and VHF point-to-point communication, the V-antenna reflector and the V-shaped antenna array are useful because of high gain, low cost, easy manoeuvering and simple geometry. The theoretical analysis for the radiation characteristics of a plane, twodimensional, V-shaped antenna array have been presented taking into account the mutual inductive coupling effect among the radiators. The analysis is carried out for the general case of ‘N’ identical half-wave dipoles instead of point sources. Slightly sharper radiation beams are produced when mutual coupling effect is included. The effect of changing the distance of separation between the radiators (d) and the apex angle (a) between the arms of the V-shaped array is also studied. Sharp beams in atleast two directions with a number of low side-lobes are possible by a proper choice of array parameters.
